A 57-year-old woman is in hospital after being struck by a car at a crosswalk in Regina Tuesday night. 

The woman was trying to cross Broad Street at 7th Avenue North at 6:06 p.m. CST, police said. 

The woman was at a pedestrian crossing, walking from the west side of Broad to the east side when she was hit by a northbound vehicle. 

She suffered serious injuries including a broken leg, according to police

The intersection was blocked for about three hours while police tried to piece together what happened Tuesday night. 

The accident is still under investigation, and police said Wednesday morning that charges are pending against the driver of the car.
