A woman is dead and three people are seriously injured following a head-on crash outside of Prince Albert Wednesday night.

The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. CST when a westbound car drove into the opposite lane on Highway 55, about eight kilometres east of the city, the RCMP said.

The car in the wrong lane narrowly missed one vehicle and then struck a sport utility vehicle head on.

The 19-year-old woman who had been driving the car died at the scene.

A 13-month-old boy and a six-year-old girl, who had been in the SUV, were taken to Saskatoon's Royal University Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV, a 57-year-woman, is in intensive care in Prince Albert's Victoria Hospital.

The names of the people involved have not been released.
