Winnipeg man accused of trying to poison wife sentenced
A Winnipeg man accused of trying to poison his ex-wife in Regina has been sentenced for attempting to cause bodily harm.
Lyle Derek White broke in to his ex-wife's house on April 7 of last year and put a toxic cleaner into a soft drink.
He left the soda in his wife's refrigerator, although she didn't drink it. Police were called and White was arrested soon after.
On Monday, in addition to the attempting to cause bodily harm charge, he pleaded guilty to break and enter to commit theft.
White received a 12-month conditional sentence to be served in the community, followed by a year of probation.
