A Regina woman is offering her wedding dress on a used goods site and is willing to accept a bottle of liquor for the gown.

The ad, on usedregina.com, notes that the dress was worn just once and has been professionally cleaned. The preferred alcohol, for the trade, is a 40-ounce bottle of Baileys — original or chocolate mint.

“I don’t need it anymore,” Stephanie Richards, the owner of the dress, explained to CBC Radio Host Craig Lederhouse of The Afternoon Edition Tuesday. “The divorce is about a year old, so I don’t really need the dress.”

Even though the dress is currently in storage in Weyburn, Sask., that is not far enough away for Richards.

“It can’t be around at all,” she said.

Richards said her friend Tania Raiwet came up with the idea of exchanging the dress for a bottle of liquor.

“Why not trade it for something useful?” Raiwet said. She added she is also recently divorced and is considering a similar fate for her wedding dress.

Richards' gown is a strapless A-line with beading and pink accents.

“I got four or five emails and a couple of texts, so I shouldn’t have it for long,” Richards said.

She said she did not know if her ex-husband was aware of the ad and her plans.

“I don’t think he’d care,” she said.

“I don’t think he’d recognize the dress,” Raiwet chimed in.

Richards said she expects to have the dress sold by the weekend.
