Ongoing unrest in Ukraine is generating concerns about the impact on trade with Saskatchewan, a leader in the province's trade sector says.
Lionel Labelle, president of the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership, said Tuesday that provincial companies could lose millions in lost opportunities this year.
"We've really stopped completely in Ukraine," Labelle said. "I would suggest we're probably talking $20 million a year in business in Ukraine that we're not doing today."
Labelle said one of the sectors facing difficulties are businesses that manufacture farming equipment.
He added that Saskatchewan trade with Russia and Kazakhstan remains relatively strong.
