History could be made this weekend at the University of Regina — the UBC Thunderbirds women's volleyball team is looking for a record seventh straight national title.

But standing in its way is the hometown U of R Cougars, whom they meet tonight at 6 p.m. CST.

"Yes they're the number 1 seed, but nobody really wants to face the host team," said Desiree Ates, a fifth-year Cougars player. "You have the whole crowd cheering against you."

The CIS women's volleyball quarterfinals begin at 1 p.m.

The championship final is Sunday at 6 p.m. Eight teams are in the tournament, which is being held in Regina for the first time.
