The driver of a semi truck is recovering from injuries after a crash with a train Thursday night just west of Regina.

Around 8:30 a.m. CST, the locomotive with one rail car attached had gone through a level crossing but then started backing up.

It hit the semi as it tried to cross on Pinkie Road, near the Global Transportation Hub.

The truck driver was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries to his knee and some cuts to his face

The collision derailed the freight car but no one on the train was injured.
