Environment Canada says a tornado watch has ended for Saskatchewan's southwest.

The areas affected were Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie and the Cypress Hills.

As of 9 p.m. CST the weather office said the severe condition appeared to be tracking from Montana into Alberta.

"The severe thunderstorm watch for most of [Saskatchewan] has thus been lifted," the office said, adding that the threat of a tornado in the Cypress Hills area "is negligible, so the tornado watch that had been in effect for the area has been downgraded to a severe thunderstorm watch."

According to Environment Canada there were reports of golf ball sized hail in southern Alberta and parts of Saskatchewan and Montana.
