The 23rd annual Santa Claus Parade in Saskatoon is expected to attract close to 20,000 people in the city's downtown Sunday.

Santa made his way north from Regina where he took part in the parade Saturday afternoon.

The parade will kick off at 1 p.m. in the city's core.

Colourful and festively decorated floats will start at the intersection on 19th Street West and 3rd Avenue. They'll travel north on 3rd Avenue to 23rd Street, and then south along 1st Avenue.

At the end of the route, Santa will be dropped off at the corner of 20th Street and 1st Avenue, near the Midtown Plaza mall entrance where he'll make his way inside for photographs.

Drivers in the area should expect delays. People using public transit should also check routes for detours.
