Teacher accused of sexually assaulting girl
A Regina teacher faces sex-related charges after a teen girl came forward to police late last week to complain she was assaulted.
The girl, 16, told investigators she was sexually assaulted by a 34-year-old man between Oct. 29-30 of last year, police said.
The alleged assaults took place at a business in the 2300 block of Dewdney Avenue, said police.
Robert Rhett Burgess appeared in court Monday to face six charges, including sexual assault, sexual exploitation and uttering threats.
Burgess had taught at Regina's Balfour Collegiate, but is no longer employed there, a school board official told CBC News. According to the school's website, Burgess taught physical education and English
Burgess was arrested about a day after the girl came forward to police.
