Suspicious fire leaves 2 dead on Ahtahkakoop First Nation
Two people have died in a suspicious fire on the Ahtahkakoop First Nation.
Shellbrook RCMP responded to a call around 1:30 a.m. Monday that two men were hurt in a home on the reserve, about 75 kilometers northwest of Prince Albert. Family members found the men at the home but had to leave to call police due to poor cell coverage.
When officers arrived the home was engulfed in flames. A four-year-old girl was pulled from the home prior to the arrival of police.
She was taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
The remains of the two dead people were later found inside.
Police said the fire is considered suspicious and the cause is under investigation.
The names of the two deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
