Two suspects have been charged in relation to a string of Regina break and enter thefts, including a Dec. 20 case where Christmas presents were taken.

Police said their investigation into that break and enter, on Bennet Drive, led them to believe the same suspects were connected to five other cases between Dec. 18 and Jan. 2.

"The more information that we were able to uncover, the more it linked to other cases," Elizabeth Popowich, spokeswoman for the Regina police, told CBC News Wednesday. "So in the end we were able to conclude six break and enter cases with charges."

Popowich added that officers now will have to work on getting the stolen goods back to the right people.

"Part of the work that happens now is trying to link that recovered property back to known cases of break and enter in the city," she said.

One of the stolen goods was a child's piggy bank.

A man, 37, from Regina faces 16 charges. A woman, 39, also from Regina is also charged.
