Surgeries to resume at Regina's Pasqua Hospital
130 surgeries had been postponed
After cancelling dozens of surgeries over the last two weeks, Regina's Pasqua Hospital is set to resume elective surgeries next week.
The problem concerned the sterilization of surgical equipment. The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region said the equipment itself was properly sterilized, but the packs containing the items were stained with a rust colour, which raised concerns.
Some 130 surgeries and 27 non-surgical procedures were postponed as a result, although some of them were transferred to the Regina General Hospital.
The health region says no one got sick as a result of the sterilization issue.
The health region said Thursday that the problem hasn't been fixed 100 per cent and there's still staining, but it's not as pronounced.
Elective surgeries are to begin again at the Pasqua on Monday.
