Relay for Life raises money for cancer research

Bobby Singh,20, participated in the Relay for Life fundaiser at the University of Regina as a cancer survivor. His leukemia went into remission in August, 2010.
For Regina's Bobby Singh, participating in the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life fundraiser has a special meaning.
Among the people walking around a track at the University of Regina overnight to raise money for cancer research, Singh stands out in a yellow survivor shirt.
The 20-year-old has been battling leukemia and went into remission in August of 2010.
"Putting on this yellow shirt and showing them that there is an end to this and it does stop,"said Singh. "You can get to a point where you're in remission and you're under control."
Events like Relay for Life have a big impact, he said.
"It might seem like they're getting together for a Friday night or something like that, but to realize that the implications of your actions carry on to people like me," said Singh. "Their actions help people like me and other cancer patients that are out there."
Organizers said they hope to beat last year's total of $37,000.
