CBC News has confirmed that the provincial auditor has launched a review of the University of Regina's relationship with outside entities like companies and government agencies.

The auditor's office is also examining how the institution commercializes research conducted at the school.

Auditors have been on site at the university going through its files this week.

The audit comes following a series of CBC News reports over the past month dealing with the university and alleged conflicts of interest.

One of the CBC stories involved IPAC-CO2 and concerns about the organizations relationship with its largest supplier, Climate Ventures Inc.

Two university of Regina employees were running IPAC for the institution while at the same time sitting on the board of CVI.

The university and the provincial government called that a conflict of interest.

More recently, CBC did a story about a private company, Gen Five, which was created by five university of Regina employees.

University lawyers conducted an investigation into the for-profit company after discovering that it appeared to be making proposals on behalf of the U of R.

Contacted by CBC, the provincial auditor's office declined to comment.

The U of R President, Vianne Timmons, said she will make a statement on Monday.
