It is likely that a fourth person has frozen to death in Prince Albert this winter, after the discovery of a man in a snowbank early Thursday morning.

The 62-year-old man was unconscious and unresponsive when he was found lying in the snow on the 1500 block of 6th Avenue West, at about 5:00 a.m. CST, police said.

Paramedics rushed him to hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police and the Office of the Chief Coroner are investigating, but it appears the man died of exposure. The temperature in the city overnight dipped to -23 C including the wind chill.

"There's no signs of foul play," said Staff Sergeant Dave Schluff. "We even had our canine dog try to track from it…. And you know what? There was nothing leaving it."

Three other people have died of exposure in Prince Albert this winter.

Schluff is urging people to call police if they see anyone who needs a warm place to sleep.
