A number of people were evacuated from Saskatoon's Irene and Leslie Dubé Centre for Mental Health Friday night because of a fire in a patient care area.

Two employees as well as a patient were treated for minor injuries following the fire. Some patients were also relocated to a different area of the building.

The Saskatoon Fire Department said in a release that "all personnel were evacuating" when it arrived at the centre, which is near the Royal University Hospital, around 7:30 p.m. CST.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and a fire in one of the rooms, which had set off the sprinkler system.

The fire was quickly put out. There is no word on what caused it.

Damage is estimated at about $10,000.

Officials are investigating.
