Two Regina police officers were hit by an allegedly drunk driver Friday — at the same moment they were dealing with another allegedly drunk driver.

The two officers were in their car on the east end of the city just before 3 a.m. CST when they were sideswiped by a large truck, Staff Sgt. Evan Bray said.

The officers, who had pulled over on Park Street close to the CP rail lines, received "very minor" injuries.

Shortly before they were hit, the officers had pulled over another vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver.

The truck that sideswiped the officer drove away, but it was located later in the morning on the outskirts of the city.

Police said the truck driver faces a number of charges, including impaired driving.
