Water treadmill used for dog rehab

A Regina veterinarian has installed a water treadmill in her clinic, to provide rehabilitation therapy to dogs.
The aqua-treadmill fills a tank with water. A dog goes inside and the treadmill begins to move, generating resistance.
Veterinarian Tara Hudye, from the Lakewood Animal Hospital says some clients are quite dedicated to their animals, and keen to use the technology.
"It's not just a dog," Hudye said. "It's their pet and it's their family member."
It cost about $70,000 to install the machines.
Heather Faulkner used the machine with her Airedale terrier Haley, which was recovering from a knee injury.
"If your child was hurt or something, you do what you can for them," Faulkner said. "You don't let them suffer. If they're in pain and you can help them it's up to us to do that."
The veterinarian said the machine could also be used to help animals get into shape.
