Southern Saskatchewan is being hit by another winter storm, which could deposit up to 20 centimetres of snow in some areas.

Environment Canada has a storm warning for most regions south of the Yellowhead Highway, including Regina but not Saskatoon.

The snow started to fall in western regions Sunday morning. By mid-afternoon, travel was not recommended in the Kindersley area.

Mike Russo, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said the storm would move into southeastern Saskatchewan by Sunday evening.

"The snow should persist throughout the night and into Monday," said Russo. "But then gradually taper off as we get into late day Monday.… We could see accumulations from 10, maybe as high as 20 centimetres."

Russo said the Cypress Hills, Sask., area will receive the heaviest snow.

"As far as the western part, the worst of it should start to subside overnight tonight," he said. "As far as the southeastern corner of the province, we should see some lingering heavy snowfall early [Monday] morning."

Winds are also forecast to pick up Sunday night, gusting up to 60 km/h.

People should check the Highway Hotline if they have to travel.
