Police have laid a charge of second-degree murder, following an investigation into a death that was initially reported as being related to a snowmobile crash.
According to police John James Ballantyne, a 39-year-old man from Pelican Narrows, died in hospital in Flin Flon, Manitoba after being taken there on Feb. 23.
Police said the man's injuries were reported to hospital and police as stemming from a snowmobile accident while traveling to a remote camp 30 kilometres west of Creighton, Sask.
On Thursday, however, police said their follow up investigation has led to them to believe the man was the victim of homicide.
They said a 24-year-old man from Pelican Narrows has been arrested, charged and will appear in court in La Ronge on Friday.
