WHL ticket sales not affected by short NHL season

Some people may be surprised the NHL lockout and return had no effect on the Western Hockey League's ticket sales.
Ron Robison, the league's commissioner, said this season's ticket sales have been fairly normal compared to other years.
He said sales didn't increase during the NHL lockout.
"If anything we were surprised that there wasn't more of an increase earlier in the season when the lockout was occurring," said Robinson. "But I think it just shows the NHL is very important to drive interest at all levels of the game."
Robinson said people must have been busy with other activities in the fall season such as football.
He also said ticket sales vary across the league.
Currently the Regina Pats are suffering from low attendance numbers.
On the other hand, the Saskatoon Blades are attracting more fans than ever.
Friday night the Blades played to a crowd of about 8,000 people against the Brandon Wheat Kings, when they broke a win-streak record that was set in 1988.
Saturday night they won their 15th game in a row against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
