A 27-year-old Regina woman is facing a charge of criminal negligence causing bodily harm in connection with a police investigation into a suspected case of abuse of a two-month-old baby boy.

According to police, officers were called on Saturday to look into a possible case of child abuse.

The caller had noticed injuries on the little boy that did not appear to be accidental.

The case was investigated by police, social services and a dedicated child abuse team from the local health region.

Police say the injuries to the child appear to have taken place about one week ago.

Their investigation was ongoing.

The name of the accused was not released. Police did not say how the child was doing.
