Thanks to ice fog, drivers were being told stay off highways around Regina, Saskatoon and other areas on Friday morning.

In Regina at around 7 a.m CST, travel was not recommended from the city limits to about 30 kilometres north where the highway meets the Piapot grid road.

In the Saskatoon area, drivers were told to stay off sections of Highway 19 because of reduced visibility due to fog and icy sections.

West of Weyburn, travel was not recommended along sections of Highway 39.

On the west side of the province, conditions were bad on some of the secondary highways, with travel not recommended on sections of Highway 21 north of Kindersley and near Kerrobert. There, the problem isn't fog, but swirling snow, snow drifts, ice and slippery sections.

At 7 a.m. CST, travel was also not recommended on sections of highways 31 and 51.

Police advise people to check the Highway Hotline before heading out.

Meanwhile, people who are flying out or are meeting people at the Regina International Airport might want to check the status of their flight. At least one cancellation and one delay was noted on the airport authority's website at 7:30 a.m.
