A man was to appear in Saskatoon provincial court Monday accused of chasing another man down the street with a machete while wearing a mask.
Police say an officer on patrol spotted the 22-year-old running down the 200 block of Avenue R South at around 1 a.m. CST on Saturday.
He kept running when police told him to stop, but officers caught up with him about a block away.
Police said in addition to the machete, the man was carrying 0.4 grams of cocaine.
He has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of cocaine and breach of his release conditions.
It's the latest in a series of alleged machete incidents in Saskatoon and Regina in recent days.
Regina police said Monday they have charged four people with aggravated assault in connection with an alleged Dec. 27 attack involving a machete on an 18-year-old man.
The four accused people, ages 28, 27, 23 and 18, made their first appearance in court on Friday. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
