A Saskatoon man is dead after a crash between his snowmobile and an SUV on Sunday afternoon.
It happened on Highway 16 about eight kilometres west of Saskatoon at about 4 p.m. CST.
The man was traveling with three other people who were also riding on snowmobiles.
The 54-year-old man drove his snowmobile out of a ditch into the eastbound lane of the highway and was struck by an SUV, police said.
Emergency crews tried to save the man, but he was pronounced dead when he arrived to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.
Two women in the SUV were treated for minor injuries.
Police said they are trying to find out why the man left the ditch, while the other three snowmobilers stayed off the roadway.
Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash.
Police said they still are investigating, but added that no charges would be laid.
