A lane on Highway 55 is closed after person was killed in a single vehicle accident early Saturday morning.

It happened 5 kilometres west Pierceland, Sask., at about 3:55 a.m. The RCMP said one person from the car died, others in the car were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Police had closed off part of the highway to investigate what happened.

Pierceland is located about 250 kilometres northwest of North Battleford, near the Alberta border.
