Possible electrical issue forces WestJet flight to land in Regina

A WestJet flight from Winnipeg to Calgary made a safe landing in Regina after the crew detected a problem on board. (CBC)A WestJet flight from Winnipeg to Calgary made an unexpected stop in Regina Tuesday, after crew members detected a problem on the plane.
The flight landed safely around 5 p.m. CST with emergency crews, including fire trucks, ready for the plane's arrival on the tarmac.
All 127 passengers were fine.
While not immediately confirmed as such, airport officials said there appeared to be an electrical issue on board, adding an emergency landing was the right course of action to take.
"Because it was declared an emergency, they obviously go to the nearest airport and we're in between those two destinations," Derek Thue, a spokesman for the Regina Airport Authority said Tuesday. "So they felt it was necessary and serious enough to land here in Regina."
Thue explained that it is normal for fire trucks to be at the ready for emergency landings.
