A standoff involving a 19-year-old man with a knife has ended peacefully, Saskatoon police say.

Police said the incident began around 2 p.m. Friday when a family member in a home on Dawson Crescent reported that a man, armed with a knife, had been acting in a threatening manner.

Police sent their emergency response team and crisis negotiators.

Less than four hours later, police reported that the matter had been defused and that no charges would be laid.

They did note, however, that a man had been taken into custody, pursuant to provisions of the Mental Health Act.
