A secondary road in Saskatchewan's southwest remains dangerously ice-covered. (Luc Lemoine/CBC)Almost one week after rain fell in the area, followed by a marked drop in temperature, many secondary roads in rural Saskatchewan remain covered in treacherous layers of glass-smooth ice.
One area of particular concern is around Ponteix, in the province's southwest.
Locals said as much as five centimetres of rain fell.
While most of the more-travelled routes have been sanded, many back roads have yet to be tended to.
Ponteix is about 280 kilometres southwest of Regina.
