Two men are recovering in hospital after a strange turn of events on the White Bear First Nation this weekend where one man was allegedly stabbed and, later on, the person accused was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured, RCMP are reporting.
According to RCMP, the matters began around 6:30 p.m. CST on Friday when officers from the nearby Carlyle detachment were dispatched to the reserve to deal with a report of a man, 39, who had been stabbed.
Officers arrived, along with an ambulance, and the victim — who was conscious but suffering from serious stab wounds — was taken to the local hospital. He was later transferred to a hospital in Regina.
Meanwhile, back on the reserve, officers were investigating the stabbing incident and heard a crash on Highway 9, which runs through the area.
Officers went to check that out and found an 18-year-old man had been hit by a vehicle.
Police said the injured man had wandered into the road from the side of the highway.
The man was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Regina.
As it turns out, RCMP said that man is now facing a charge of attempted murder in relation to the earlier stabbing.
Police said a court date has been set on the charge, pending the man's release from hospital.
