Former Regina mayor new head of Tourism Saskatchewan

Former Regina mayor Pat Fiacco, shown here at his last council meeting last month, is the new CEO of Tourism Saskatchewan. (CBC)Former Regina Mayor Pat Fiacco is the new chief executive officer of Tourism Saskatchewan.
Fiacco, who retired after 12 years as mayor and did not run in last month's election, takes over in his new position on Nov. 13.
“Tourism is a $1.7 billion industry in Saskatchewan and will continue to be a major factor in the province’s economic success,” provincial Tourism Minister Tim McMillan said in a news release. “I am confident that Mr. Fiacco is the right person to help move this industry forward."
The previous CEO of Tourism Saskatchewan was Lynda Haverstock, a former lieutenant governor, MLA and leader of the provincial Liberal Party.
Fiacco said while he was mayor, he tried to make a positive impact on the province and now he looks forward to continuing that as CEO of Tourism Saskatchewan.
Fiacco has also been involved in a restaurant business since he stepped down as mayor.
