Man arrested after GPS leads police to stolen iPad

Police in Prince Albert, Sask., used a stolen iPad's built-in GPS tracking technology to locate it, along with the man accused of possessing the stolen tablet.
RCMP say the iPad, along with a Nintendo Wii system, a 47-inch LED television and surround-sound receiver, a Canon camcorder and some other electronics were stolen from a home south of Hudson Bay, Sask., near Highway 9 on Sept. 10.
But police found the stolen iPad the next day in Prince Albert, thanks to the tablet's GPS tracking technology, RCMP said in a release Monday.
Municipal police in Prince Albert charged a 37-year-old man from Weekes, Sask., with one count of possession of stolen property.
Apple offers a free app, called Find my iPhone, that helps users remotely locate their phone when it goes missing. It also works with the iPad, iPod Touch and Mac.
Meanwhile, investigators are still looking for the other electronic goods that were stolen in the Sept. 10 break-in.
RCMP are also seeking any leads regarding a separate break-in at a seasonal home south of Greenwater Provincial Park in late August.
A red 2005 Suzuki all-terrain vehicle with "very aggressive tread tires" was stolen in that break-in, according to police.
