Saskatoon police say one of its officers shot and killed a dog that attacked him this afternoon.
Officers were called to a home in the 1300 block of 22nd Street West shortly before 12:30 p.m. CST Monday to deal with a dispute between a landlord and a tenant.
Police say the officers asked the dog's owner to secure the animal inside the home, but the door was not latched properly as one officer entered the yard.
The dog ran towards the male officer and knocked him to the ground.
In self-defence, the officer fired a single shot that killed the animal, according to police, who added that the officer sustained minor injuries.
The incident is under investigation.
