Eight people face weapons-related charges and other criminal counts after they were arrested this morning in what Saskatoon police describe as a "high-risk" gang-related search.
Officers with the Saskatoon Police Service's street-gang unit executed a search warrant at a home on the 1600 block of 19th Street West just before 1 a.m. CST Sunday.
Four men and three women were taken into custody without incident, and officers seized several firearms and other weapons from the home, police said in a release.
An eighth person who wasn't at the home at the time of the search was arrested and now faces weapons-related charges in connection with the same investigation.
Police said its emergency response team, as well as canine and patrol officers, were called in to help with the search because of the possibility of weapons in the home.
An armoured rescue vehicle was also deployed in the search, according to police.
