Police have released the name of the Saskatoon woman who died after being shot in her home Wednesday morning.
Lorry Anne Santos, 34, was with her family at around 6:20 a.m. CST when someone fired a gun and struck her.
Police believe one or more people were outside firing shots into the house. Bullets went through the wall and windows at the home at 203 Peterson Terrace on the city's west side.
Saskatoon police are looking for information about a car spotted in the area around the time of the shooting. They say it looks like this recent-model Acura. (Saskatoon Police Service)Inside with Santos at the time of the shooting was her husband and four children, including an infant.
Police are calling the death the fifth homicide of 2012.
Mar Complido has known Santos since the two were youngsters.
He told CBC News Thursday that he is baffled by the shooting.
"They are a happy couple, they're a nice couple," Complido said. "I know them personally. I know the husband personally. He's a nice man."
Another person close to the victim, Mike San Miguel — a cousin — said he is feeling for the family noting the couple's youngest child is five months old.
Sources have told CBC that some witnesses saw two gunmen jogging down an alley after the shooting, wearing black hoodies pulled over their heads, with rifles strapped to their backs.
Police continue to interview witnesses.
They're also asking for the public's help locating a car that was seen in the area around the time of the shooting. It's described as a newer-model grey or silver Acura — or something similar — with four doors and tinted windows.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Saskatoon Police Service at 975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
