A Saskatoon police officer is no longer facing a charge of common assault, following a review of the case by prosecutors.

Cst. Mark Franklin, 39, was charged following an alleged incident Aug. 5 when he was not on duty.

It was previously reported that police were called to a home to investigate an alleged domestic dispute.

In a news release, police said the constable had been placed on administrative duties following the charges being laid.

Prosecutors, however, have stayed the charge meaning they will not go forward with them.

Police said the constable is back to performing his regular duties.
