Fire crews poured water on burning hay near Emerald Park, which is just east of Regina. (Dani Mario/CBC)The skies around Emerald Park, Sask., lit up Monday night when a stack of hay bales caught fire.
The fire just south of the Regina-area community destroyed an undetermined number of round bales and left a field scorched.
Firefighters from Pilot Butte and White City got the call at about 8:30 p.m. CST.
Flames were shooting high into the sky when they arrived, and crews ended up using a forklift to spread the hay out.
Police haven't said anything about a possible cause, but are asking people to contact Crime Stoppers or their local police department if they saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area Monday night.
