Regina police say a five-year-old girl and her younger sister are alright after a crash between a pickup truck and a car Tuesday evening.

Police closed off the southbound lanes of Albert Street at 7th Avenue at about 5:30 p.m.

Officers said the car was making a left turn when it crashed into a pickup truck.

The driver of the car was the mother of the two children.

The two girls were taken to hospital, with the oldest being treated for minor injuries.

Police said both children were properly strapped in the vehicle.

The driver of the car has been charged with failing to yield when making a left turn.
