Although job numbers were down across Canada last month, Saskatchewan was bucking the trend somewhat.

Canada-wide, the number of people employed decreased by 30,000 from June to July, according to Statistics Canada's monthly labour force survey.

However, in Saskatchewan, employment rose by 800 over the same period.

There were also 1,000 more people unemployed, boosting the jobless rate to 5 per cent from 4.9 per cent. That's still the second-lowest rate in Canada, after Alberta.

The numbers showed a shift from part-time to full-time work: part-time jobs dropped by 1,400, while full-time jobs increased by 2,200.

All numbers are seasonally adjusted.
