Tammy Lynn Goforth, 35, and Kevin Goforth, 37, had been previously charged with two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm after two young children were taken to hospital on August 1.
Police said at the time the girls were suffering from signs of abuse and neglect.
The four-year-old died in hospital on August 2, resulting in the new charge.
Police have said the Goforths are not the parents of the girls.
On Thursday afternoon, police released the name of the child who died. She was identified as June Alexis Dawn Goforth.
They said the other child's name would not be released. She remains in hospital but her condition is improving.
