A Saskatoon police officer has been charged with assault in connection with a domestic incident.

Const. Mark Franklin was scheduled to appear in provincial court on the common assault charge Tuesday morning.

On Sunday, police were called to a home on the 2200 block of Ewart Ave. on a report of a domestic dispute.

Officers found a 39-year-old woman in the home with minor injuries.

Franklin, who has been with the Saskatoon police service for 1½ years, was arrested at the scene.

He's been reassigned to administrative duties while the case is before the courts, the police service said.
