Two paramedics based in Beauval, Sask., have been suspended and must pay $5,000 each in fines for preparing false paperwork on calls.

The two were disciplined by the professional association that oversees paramedics in Saskatchewan.

In the proceedings, Charlene Roy and Sandy Rediron admitted to adding their names to documents so they would be paid for attending to calls.

Rediron, a supervisor, also scheduled paramedics in Beauval who were not licensed.

The discipline committee suspended Rediron for five months. Roy was given a three-month suspension.

The health region where the two worked is also investigating what happened and said the pair will not return to work until the region's probe is completed.

The College of Paramedics also levied $5,000 in fines against the two.

According to information from the college, the professional misconduct took place over several dates in 2008.

The hiring of unlicensed paramedics involved several individuals who worked in the community for months and, in two cases, many years.

Beauval is about 400 kilometres north of Saskatoon.

Officials from the health region told CBC News that paramedic service has continued, with qualified workers in Beauval and a nearby community.
