A Regina man has been charged with several offences following an alleged hit-and-run accident that killed a woman.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. CST Sunday on Mikkelson Drive in north Regina.

The woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but died about 12 hours later.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a car had been abandoned after crashing through a fence.

The two men in the car fled the scene on foot, police said, but several hours later, officers tracked down two suspects. They charged the man they say was driving the vehicle.

The man, 24, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, criminal negligence causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

The name of the woman who died hasn't been released.
