A 26-year-old man is dead following an incident involving a boom lift in a rural area south of Stockholm, Sask., RCMP say.
In a news release issued Wednesday, police said the incident happened Tuesday afternoon when the man was attempting to assist a 17-year-old male who had suffered some sort of injury and was in the bucket of the lift.
A boom lift is a portable machine that can extend to reach tall heights.
It was not immediately clear what happened that led to the teen's injuries.
Police said the lift came into contact with a power line.
The man, identified as Adrian Regehr from the rural municipality of Saltcoats, was unconscious when emergency crews arrived on the scene.
He was pronounced dead in hospital in Esterhazy.
Crews from SaskPower were also at the scene to make sure the power lines were safe.
The 17-year-old's injuries did not lead to further medical treatment.
Police said the incident was under investigation by the province's coroner as well as Occupational Health and Safety.
Stockholm, Sask., is about 165 kilometres east of Regina.
