A two-year-old girl has died after being struck by a mini-van on the Red Earth First Nation in northeast Saskatchewan.

It happened Sunday at about 1 p.m. — the toddler was hit while playing with her older brother in a driveway, police said.

The woman who was driving the van was a family friend — she accidently hit the toddler while turning left into the driveway, police said.

The girl's mother performed CPR, but the child died at the scene.

Alcohol was not involved and the incident is not considered criminal. Charges under the Traffic Safety Act are being considered, said police.
