A 38-year-old woman has died and a young child remains in hospital after a semi-trailer crashed into a car on Highway 11 near Craik, Sask., Tuesday afternoon.

The woman was driving westbound in a car trying to cross the highway into the community when her car was struck by a semi, said the RCMP.

The woman was airlifted by a Stars helicopter to hospital. The two-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

There is no word on the child's condition.

Police said drivers should expect delays as Highway 11 will be closed around the accident and traffic will be routed through Craik.
