For the second year in a row Regina has the lowest rental vacancy rate in the country.

According to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the city's vacancy rate sits at 0.60 per cent.

That's 0.10 per cent lower than last year's 0.70 per cent.

The tight market is also causing rental prices to increase, making the average rent $50 higher than last year.

The reports said the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Regina is about $948.

"It's not getting better, it's actually getting worse," said Alaina Harrison, who works with Carmichael Outreach Centre in Regina.

Harrison said more families and people who are trying to make ends meet are having trouble finding a home.

"Zero point six per cent is just an unacceptable level," said Harrison. "A healthy level as we all know ... is three per cent so we're far, far below that."

In Saskatoon the vacancy rate also went down to 3.1 per cent from 3.4 per cent last year.

In Yorkton the vacancy rate is 1.4 per cent and it's 1.0 per cent in Estevan.

Prince Albert's vacancy rate has increased from an average of 2.7 per cent last year to 3.9 per cent.

According to the report the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in all urban centres in Saskatchewan is about $933.
