Members of Prairie Vertical, a four-man climbing team based in Saskatoon, have safely returned from an attempt to be the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Saskatchewan. They came within 300 metres of the summit and tried twice to finish the climb before turning back for safety reasons.

The team of Steve Whittington, Wren Rabut, Sam Unger and Jeff Dmytrowich spent about two weeks on the mountain in Yukon's Kluane National Park.

They set out May 18. After ending their attempt, they waited several days for the weather to clear so a helicopter could pick them up.
