Three people have been named to draw Saskatchewan's next electoral map.

Every 10 years, the government must appoint a commission to redraw constituency boundaries.

This time, the government will mandate the independent commission and add three MLAs to the map, bringing the total to 61.

A judge, Neil Gabrielson; an accountant, Stuart Pollon; and former NDP MLA Harry Van Mulligen will make up the commission.

They will write an interim report within three months and a final report within six months.

In a news release Friday, the government said the commission must make sure that new boundaries result in roughly an equal number of voters in each constituency. An exception is made for the two constituencies in the far north, which are allowed to have fewer voters due to their sparse population and large geographic area.
